Membership

  • Membership of the Group is open to all patients registered at Island Health
  • Membership is voluntary
  • The Practice will advertise the Group widely through various channels in order to seek to make the Group representative of the Practice population as a whole

Operation

  • The Group will meet at least three times per year, with at least 28 days notice given of upcoming meetings
  • Members are able to give their feedback by email, post or telephone if they are unable to attend the meetings
  • The Group will operate as a mixture of face to face meetings and on-line surveys and email in order to facilitate involvement from those unable to attend meetings
  • At least one Practice Partner will be present at all meetings

Aims

  • To facilitate communication between the Practice and the patients
  • To suggest ways in which the Practice can improve its services and systems for the benefit of patients
  • To facilitate dialogue among patients and the Practice concerning local health needs, priorities and current service provision
  • To provide feedback on any service changes or proposed service changes
  • To ensure that patients needs are represented in the development of any new Practice services or systems
  • To ensure the needs and interests of all patient groups are taken into consideration – including people with specific illnesses or conditions, people with a disability and people from minority ethnic groups
  • To review and provide recommendations following Practice surveys and to agree a yearly Action Plan as a result of these surveys

Annual Report

The Practice will publish an Annual report each April detailing the work of the PPG through the previous year, the agreed Action Plan, and the work completed as a result of this Action Plan
