Urgent help
If you have a life-threatening emergency, you should call 999 immediately.

Online advice
If you are not sure if you need to see a Doctor or not, you can get advice from your GP online by using our new Consult from home service.

You could save time by starting an online consultation with the GP by clicking here.
Someone will get back to you by the end of the next working day and you might not even have to come in to the surgery.

Telephone advice
If you need advice concerning your medications, you should first speak with your Pharmacist.

If you need to speak to a Doctor urgently, please call Reception on 020 7363 1111 and ask for a Doctor to call you back.

If we are closed, you can dial 111  for advice.

Routine appointments
Appointments with doctors and nurses at Island Health are only for our registered patients. All GP appointments are ten minutes long and booked in advance.

To book an appointment call 020 7363 1111 or start an online consultation(link above). We should get back to you within 48hrs(2 working days) or on the same day should the matter be pressing.

You can call any time for an appointment. Our phone lines are open 08:00 – 18:30, with an automated appointment booking service available 24hrs. When we are closed, please dial 111. You’ll be connected to the GP Out Of Hours(OOH) for advice. They will also be able to book you a HUB appointment at the Barkantine Clinic or St Andrews Health Centre.

Because we have such a large and diverse team at Island Health, the Receptionist may ask you to briefly state why you would like an appointment. This is purely so that we can book you in with the correct clinician to avoid you having a wasted trip! If you would rather not give Reception any details, then please do not be afraid to say so.

Emergency appointments
We have a number of unbooked emergency appointments available from 10.00 – 11.00am Monday to Friday. Please come to the Surgery just before 10.00.(ONLY IF IT’S A MEDICAL EMERGENCY). You will be asked to state briefly what your problem is so that we can ensure you are seen in order of clinical priority and by the correct Clinician. This service is only for patients who need urgent medical attention on the day.

****Medical Certificates/Sick Note requests will not be honoured in the emergency session, please book a routine telephone appointment with a clinician to discuss these.****

Travel Appointments

We offer 30 minute Travel advice/vaccination appointments on a weekly basis. We however suggest you call reception and book your travel slot at least 4-6 weeks in advance due to high demand. Some vaccinations are also given weeks apart, therefore booking your appointments early will give enough time to complete your course where necessary. For more information on travel health please click here.

***Please note: As of 11/12/2019, Island Health is no longer a Registered Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre, therefore no longer allowed to administer yellow fever vaccines. Please refer to a private Travel Clinic for advice.***

Home visits
If you are elderly or housebound, we may need to visit you at home. Please call the Surgery before 10.00 if you wish to arrange a Home Visit. Please note that in order to provide an efficient and safe service, Home Visits are reserved for those who genuinely need them.

If you are unable to attend an appointment which you have booked then please cancel it at the earliest opportunity so that the appointment can be offered to someone else. Persistent failure to attend for appointments which you have booked and not cancelled will lead us to consider whether we can continue to look after you at Island Health. You can cancel an appointment by calling us on 020 7510 2539 and leaving a message, or using the automated service on our main number 020 7363 1111. You can also do so by registering with our Patient Online Access which allows you to book, cancel, request medication and view your full medical records online.

To help improve your experience, we are trying very hard to run all our clinics on time. We are unable to do this if you are late.

Please arrive in good time to check in for your appointment. If you arrive later than your scheduled appointment time, you may not be seen and be asked to rebook for another date.

Please help us to help you – and arrive for your appointment in plenty of time.
